Zusammenfassung

CERN invites software developers to contribute to the open-source REANA platform for reproducible computational data analyses. You will help build federated workflows across Europe as part of the EOSC Federation and Mesh project, collaborating with partners and researchers to enable large-scale open data analysis.

Qualifikationen

  • Experience in full-stack software development and frontend/backend engineering.
  • Experience with container technologies and deployment, monitoring, and security.
  • Some familiarity with computational research data analyses is a plus.
  • Experience in EC co-funded projects is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills; interest in open-source collaboration.

Are you passionate about software development? Are you interested in supporting open science and reproducible computational research across Europe? Join our team working on the open-source REANA platform for reproducible computational data analyses! You will specifically take part in the nascent European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) Federation and the EOSC Mesh project which is designing federated digital infrastructures to cross-link research environments across Europe.

  • Collaborate with European Open Science Cloud project partners on developing cross-node federated analysis workflow infrastructure and support corresponding scientific use cases.
  • Participate in the evolution the CERN Node of the EOSC Federation, allowing researchers to analyse more than 5 petabytes of open data from experimental particle physics.
  • Contribute to the service deployment, operations and monitoring on the Kubernetes cloud.
  • Work closely with researchers to provide support for cross-node computational data analysis examples.

Your profile
  • Experience in full-stack software development and with frontend and backend software engineering technologies.
  • Experience with container technologies and application deployment, monitoring and security.
  • Some familiarity with basic principles of computational research data analyses would be a plus.
  • Some prior experience working in European Commission co-funded projects would be a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with an interest in collaborative open-source development.

Employment conditions
  • Stand-by duty, when required by the needs of the Organization.
  • Work during nights, Sundays and official holidays, when required by the needs of the Organization.

  • A monthly net stipend of either 5266 or 5793 Swiss Francs per month depending on your degree.
  • 30 days of paid leave per year plus 2 weeks annual closure.

Be sure to meet the eligibility criteria
  • You are a national of a CERN Member State or Associate Member State . Currently, we cannot consider applications from Pakistani, Lithuanian, Latvian, Cypriot and Croatian nationals, as the ceiling defined under Article II.5 of the Associate Membership Agreement has been reached.
  • By the application deadline, you have a maximum of 2 years of professional experience since graduation in the respective field and your highest educational qualification is either a bachelor’s or master’s degree. You must have a university degree and can’t hold a PhD.
  • You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
