Zusammenfassung

Duferco is expanding its Corporate Innovation Team and seeks a Forward Deployed Engineer who works close to business teams, turning AI and automation into practical solutions across energy, trading, logistics, steel and more.

You will prototype AI-enabled tools, evaluate impact, and deploy solutions that remove bottlenecks and improve decision-making as part of an internal product and engineering team in a fast-moving, startup-like environment with global backing.

Qualifikationen

• Hands-on experience applying AI, ML, data science or analytics to real business problems.
• Experience working close to users and business teams.
• Comfortable with LLMs and modern AI APIs.
• Able to prototype solutions and communicate trade-offs clearly.
• Pragmatic about AI with strong evaluation and risk awareness.
• Software engineering ability to build prototypes, integrations, automations or internal tools (prefer Python).

We are expanding Duferco’s Corporate Innovation Team: a fast-moving team operating in a startup-like environment, backed by the stability and scale of a global diversified group.

We are looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer: someone who works close to business teams, understands messy operational problems, and turns AI, data, and automation into practical solutions.

You will work across domains such as energy, trading, logistics, steel, insurance, sports, and other sectors — not as an external consultant, but as part of the group itself, with the ownership and continuity of an internal product and engineering team.

You will identify opportunities, prototype AI-enabled tools, evaluate impact, and help deploy solutions that remove bottlenecks, improve decision-making, and create leverage across the business.

You’ll work directly with business and technical teams to understand problems, identify opportunities, prototype solutions, measure impact, and iterate — not just execute predefined specs.

You’re Probably a Fit If

• You have hands‑on experience applying AI, machine learning, data science, or analytics to real business problems.
• You enjoy working close to users and business teams, understanding how work actually happens, and turning messy problems into useful AI-enabled solutions.
• You are comfortable working with LLMs, modern AI APIs, structured and unstructured data, and know how to evaluate whether an AI solution is actually useful.
• You can explore a dataset, identify patterns or opportunities, prototype a solution, and communicate trade‑offs clearly.
• You are pragmatic about AI: excited by what it can do, but aware of its limitations, failure modes, and the importance of good evaluation.
• You have enough software engineering ability to build reliable prototypes, integrations, automations, or internal tools, preferably using Python.

Experience with RAG systems, vector databases, agent frameworks, workflow automation, forecasting, optimization, BI tools, Postgres, AWS, or complex operational domains is a strong plus.

You do not need experience with every technology we use. Curiosity, analytical thinking, adaptability, and the ability to turn AI into practical business impact matter much more.
