ETH Zurich's Institute for Dynamic Systems and Control invites applications for a Robotics - Mechanical Engineer role in Zurich. This project-staff position spans about 18 months, focusing on owning the physical robot's structure, mechanisms, enclosures, and how components are built and fixed as the fleet evolves.

You will collaborate across electronics and software, work with workshops and suppliers, and document revisions so the next engineer can move faster.

Formación

• 0–5 years hands-on experience after degree; early-career project-staff role.
• Background in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, robotics or equivalent practical engineering.
• Evidence of taking hardware from concept to a tested object; CAD judgement included.
• Hands-on work required: build, assemble, debug and test hardware, outdoors when needed.
• Fluency with electronics packaging and software-facing constraints for collaboration.
• Appetite for outdoor and on-water testing; field days and rugged environments.
• Independent working style with documentation habits to aid a small team.

Responsabilidades

• Own the physical robot: structure, mechanisms, enclosures, mounts and bring from idea to buildable part.
• Design with manufacture, assembly, sealing and service in mind; prototype, fixtures and tests outdoors.
• Collaborate with electronics and software on space, connectors, heat, cables and water/vibration events.
• Partner with workshops, suppliers and technicians to turn drawings into reliable assemblies.
• Leave a clear trail of models, revisions and build notes for future efficiency.
