Job summary

Duluth Public Schools is hiring a Second Shift Engineer I to perform maintenance, cleaning, and operation of cleaning equipment in school facilities. Under supervision, you will support custodial staff, monitor evening activities, and assist with building access and safety systems.

You will coordinate with the Building Engineer and supervisors on setups, occupancy, and special needs, and respond to emergencies while ensuring secure closure of the building at shift end.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a related role or equivalent.
• Special Boilers License required before entry.
• Knowledge of cleaning standards and boiler operation helpful.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and cleaning tasks and operate cleaning equipment.
• Monitor evening activities and assist in supervising students and adults.
• Coordinate with building staff on setups, occupancy times and special needs.
• Respond to emergencies and report equipment issues promptly.
• Arms security systems after perimeter checks and manage building access.
