Zusammenfassung

TotalEnergies Gas & Power Ltd in Geneva is seeking a junior Trading Analyst to support European power and emissions market analytics. You will prepare daily reports for European desks, create market briefs, and help automate repeated analyses for senior management.

The role requires ongoing studies in Economics, Business or Engineering, fluency in English, and a knack for turning large data sets into concise insights. Start date 01/10/2026, based at GENEVE-WTC1 on site with Swiss exposure.

Qualifikationen

  • Ongoing studies in Economics, Business or Engineering.
  • Knowledge of the European power and emissions market, power systems dispatch and flows dynamics.
  • Excellent skills with the Microsoft Office suite (Power Point, Excel…).
  • Python programming and Databricks are welcome.
  • Good analytical skills and ability to transform large amounts of information into key insights.
  • Working experience in a trading environment is welcome.
  • Familiarity with visualization frameworks (PowerBI) welcome.
  • Fluent in English; French or other languages are an advantage.
  • Autonomy, objectivity, innovation, resourcefulness and organization.
  • Ability to explain complex issues clearly.

Aufgaben

  • Provide daily reports to European Trading Power teams, Front Desks and Paris HQ.
  • Create, update and present market-related topics.
  • Contribute to automation and industrialisation of reports with IT and analysts.
  • Monitor new data sources and tools to expand analytics reach.
  • Extract insights from European fundamental models and data with analysts.
  • Support traders in defining trading strategies.
  • Lead discussions with trading desks and senior management.
  • Collaborate with regional analysts for cross-commodity analytics and forecasts.
  • Conduct ad hoc analysis for other analysts, traders and management.

As such it operates in fast-evolving market dynamics influenced by internal and external factors that require constant adaptation and evolution. Uncertainties specific to the trading environment (volatility of prices, supply & demand mismatches) are coupled with those coming from the broader energy sector (climate change policies, changes in the energy mix, developments of new energy sources, etc). In such context Trading helps to ensure growth and profitability to a key segment of the business in order to reach TotalEnergies long term objectives in terms of extracting value from its Integrated Power strategy.

Activities
  • Provide daily written reports to European Trading Power teams, including Front Desks, ‘Pricing & Risk Management’ teams and Senior Management, as well as to Paris headquarters, affiliates and market partners.
  • Create, update and give presentations on market-related topics.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of reports automation and industrialisation when possible, with the help of Analyst, Quantitative Modelers and IT teams.
  • Monitor availability of new data sources and tools to expand the current reach of the team’s analytics.
  • Extracts meaningful insights from European fundamental models and fundamental data in collaboration with other analysts (generation, demand, flows, weather impact, etc) and contribute to the market watch on market structure in terms of companies, infrastructure and regulations.
  • Support traders defining trading strategies.
  • Lead discussions with trading desks and/or senior management.
  • Collaborate with the other regional analysts to build cross-commodity/cross-geography analytics and forecasts, with quantitative analysts and data scientists within the team to leverage advanced analytical techniques
  • Conduct ad hoc analysis and projects in support of other analysts, traders, and senior management.

  • Ongoing studies in Economics, Business or Engineering.
  • Knowledge of the European power and emissions market, power systems dispatch and flows dynamics and/or understanding of operations.
  • Excellent skills with the Microsoft Office suite (Power Point, Excel…).
  • Skilly in Python programming and Databricks are welcome.
  • Good analytical skills, ability to transform large amounts of information into a few key insights.
  • Working experience within a trading environment is welcome;
  • Familiarity with visualization frameworks (PowerBI/etc.) are welcome.
  • Fluent in English (oral and written) – knowledge of French and/or other languages is an advantage
  • The position requires autonomy, objectivity, innovation, to be resourceful and well organized;
  • The ideal candidate should be able to explain complex issues and present them in a clear and concise manner.
Accountabilities
  • Provide in-depth analysis to identify current and future drivers and behaviours of the European power and emissions markets.
  • Provide a proactive advisory view of the European power and emissions market to the relevant desks and to the management
  • Help build and communicate a global view of energy markets, enhance the Company’s understanding of energy markets interactions
  • Promote TGP trading activities to market partners and counterparts via reports, meetings and intervention at external meetings and conferences
