Hyperscale Power is seeking an EMC/Compliance Engineer to own the EMC and regulatory strategy for power conversion systems. You will work with Power Electronics, Firmware, and Mechanical teams to design in compliance from the start and ensure certification with external labs and bodies.

The role offers hybrid work from our Zurich area HQ and travel to test houses as needed. You will build the compliance function from early stage to production, partnering with leadership to align on standards,

Qualifikationen

• 5+ years of EMC engineering and/or regulatory compliance experience.
• Strong knowledge of EMC standards and product safety/grids.
• Hands-on experience with EMC test equipment and pre-compliance testing.
• Experience coordinating with external test houses and certification bodies.
• Excellent documentation skills for test plans and conformity declarations.

Hyperscale Power is building the power backbone for the AI data center era: a complete power conversion chain from 13.8kV–35kV medium-voltage AC down to 800V DC, combining ultra-compact SiC-based AC/DC and DC/DC power blocks. Operating at these voltage and power levels, electromagnetic compatibility and regulatory compliance are not an afterthought – they are core to a safe, certifiable, and market-ready product across every region we serve.

As EMC / Compliance Engineer, you will own the EMC and regulatory compliance strategy for our power conversion systems – from early design guidance through formal certification with our external test houses and certification bodies. You will work closely with the Power Electronics, Firmware and Mechanical teams to make sure compliance is designed in from the start, not tested in at the end.

It is a unique opportunity to build the compliance function for a breakthrough power electronics platform from an early stage – with direct visibility to the CTO and engineering leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, execute and oversee EMC testing (conducted and radiated emissions and immunity) for our AC/DC and DC/DC power conversion systems, in collaboration with external test houses.
• Define and drive the regulatory compliance strategy and certification roadmap across our target markets and standards (e.g. UL, CE, IEC 62477, IEEE 1547, FCC/CISPR EMC standards).
• Work with the Power Electronics, Firmware and Mechanical teams early in the design phase to build in EMC and compliance considerations – shielding, filtering, grounding and layout – from the start.
• Own relationships with external certification bodies and test houses (UL, TÜV, and others), coordinating test plans, submissions and follow-up on findings.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation required for certification – test reports, risk assessments, and declarations of conformity.
• Investigate and resolve EMC and compliance issues found during testing, supporting root-cause analysis and design changes together with engineering.
• Track evolving regulatory requirements across our target markets and communicate their impact on the engineering roadmap.
• Support the transition from Alpha Customer readiness to Production and Volume Readiness by scaling compliance processes to serial production.

Qualifications

• BSc / MSc in electrical engineering or comparable education.
• 5+ years of experience in EMC engineering and/or regulatory compliance, ideally for power electronics or industrial medium-voltage equipment.
• Strong knowledge of EMC standards (e.g. IEC 61000 series, CISPR, FCC Part 15) and product safety / grid-tie standards (UL, IEC 62477, IEEE 1547).
• Hands‑on experience with EMC test equipment and pre‑compliance testing.
• Experience working with external test houses and certification bodies.
• Strong documentation skills; comfortable preparing test plans, reports and technical files for certification.
• Team player, comfortable working cross-functionally with hardware and firmware teams early in the design cycle.
• Language skills: fluent in English, spoken and written; German language skills helpful, but not mandatory.
• The job will be located at our HQ in Egg b. Zürich in Switzerland, with occasional travel to test houses and certification bodies.
