CERN in Geneva is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to contribute to the renovation of the LHC Collimator Control System, combining software development, controls engineering, and accelerator technology.

You will work on real-time control applications using the FESA framework, integrate with the alarm server, and help ensure safety and reliability of accelerator operations. The role is onsite for 24 months with potential extension.

Qualifikationen

• Master's degree with 2 to 6 years of post-graduation experience, or a PhD with up to 3 years.
• Experience in real-time or distributed control systems in accelerator/industrial/scientific environments.
• Experience with GUIs and web tools for control and diagnostics.
• Proficiency in Git and CI/CD workflows.

Aufgaben

• Develop and maintain control applications for the LHC Collimator system using the FESA framework.
• Coordinate and support control system commissioning; validate interlocks and fail-safes.
• Integrate control systems with the alarm server and build real-time monitoring tools.
• Design and validate system-level tests: functional, integration, regression.
• Support expert interfaces, providing diagnostics and improving intervention workflows.
