Zusammenfassung

CERN is seeking an Electrical Technician to work on HTS tapes and cables for the HL-LHC upgrades and related magnet development projects. You will be part of qualification and characterisation efforts, gaining hands-on experience in cryogenics and superconductivity while supporting high-field magnet work.

You will learn to perform measurements, install instrumentation, and contribute to the testing of 100 kA class power transmission systems, under close supervision and with on-the-job training

You will work on the qualification and characterisation of High Temperature Superconductor (HTS) tapes and cables that will be used for the High-Luminosity Upgrade of the Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC) as well as for the development and fabrication of high-field magnets. We are looking for you who is curious and eager to learn. We will teach you everything you need to know about cryogenics and superconductivity, about building magnets and high current transfer lines.

Be sure to meet the eligibility criteria

• You are a national of aCERN Member State or Associate Member State. Currently, we cannot consider applications from Pakistani and Lithuanian nationals for positions with a 2026 start date, as the ceiling defined under Article II.5 of the Associate Membership Agreement has been reached.
• By the application deadline, you have a maximum of 2 years of professional experience since graduation in a technical or administrative field and your highest educational qualification is a general secondary education diploma or a shorter non-university degree. You can’t hold a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree or PhD.
• You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
