Job summary

SoWashCo Schools seeks a substitute Great Rivers Adult Basic Education Teacher to deliver core content classes and GED/ESL preparation in a district-wide setting. You will adapt to diverse adult learners, collaborate with staff, and support post-tests and attendance reporting.

The role requires a Minnesota teaching license, a Bachelor's in Education, and experience with adult learners from varied cultures. Training and a flexible, as-needed schedule are provided.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field.
• Current Minnesota teaching license is required.
• Experience teaching core subjects in multi-level classrooms is preferred.
• Prompt, regular and reliable attendance is expected.
• Ability to use email,Microsoft Word and Google Docs, and data systems for Adult Basic Education.

Responsibilities

• Teach designated curriculum as required by Adult Basic Education Standards.
• Prepare classrooms and materials for activities with a balanced program of instruction.
• Collaborate with staff and partners to provide resources to adult students and families.
• Provide instruction for GED prep, literacy and numeracy, ESL, and related programs.
• Create opportunities connecting students with the community.
• Administer curriculum for GED/Diploma or ESL and assist with post-tests on site as needed.
• Record attendance accurately and communicate data for yearly reporting.
• Adapt teaching methods to meet diverse needs and abilities.
• Observe and evaluate student progress and suggest improvements.
