Job summary

The Brockport Central School District seeks a Long Term Substitute Float Cook Manager to cover staffing shortages districtwide. The 8-hour days run from 6:00am to 2:30pm, November through January 2027, with a daily assignment based on needs.

The role includes supervising cooks and assistants, and supporting catering and events. You will ensure quality meal preparation, food safety, and accurate recordkeeping, while using district computer systems for ordering, inventory, and POS duties.

Qualifications

• A: Associate degree in Food Service Administration plus 1 year of large-scale cooking experience.
• B: High school diploma plus 3 years of large-scale cooking experience.
• C: An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by (A) and (B).
• ServSafe certification desired; if permanent hire, will obtain within 1 year.
• Ability to supervise and train food service staff across multiple locations.
• Knowledge of large-scale food preparation, nutrition, safety, and sanitation.
• Strong time management and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel between district buildings as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Provides coverage for staffing shortages districtwide.
• Supervises and coordinates food preparation, cooking, and serving of meals.
• Assists with catering and special events; trains staff as needed.
• Completes required records, inventory, ordering, meal counts, and reports.
• Maintains food safety, sanitation, and allergen procedures across locations.
• Oversees staff in breakfast and lunch service and equipment care.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Food Services.
