Job summary

The St. Charles School District is seeking a District Nurse to support student health services across the district. Responsibilities include assessing student health, providing nursing care, dispensing medications per policy, and coordinating with staff and families.

Qualifications include a current MO RN license, CPR certification, and experience in school health programs; 7.5-hour days over 192 days per year with benefits. Beginning ASAP; salary commensurate with education and experience.

Qualifications

• Possession of a current license to practice as a professional RN (Missouri preferred).
• Two years of clinical nursing experience preferred.
• Current CPR (Adult/Child/Infant) certification required.
• Knowledge of School Health Program, public health principles, and health education.
• Ability to work effectively with students, parents, faculty, and community.
• Must comply with Missouri Nurse Practice Act and district policies.

Responsibilities

• Assesses student health and develops nursing diagnoses and priorities.
• Implements communicable disease prevention and control in the school.
• Promotes health and safety through environmental health plans.
• Provides health education and serves as health consultant.
• Acts as liaison among parents, school, and community health matters.
• Cares for sick and injured at school per district policy and policy.
• Dispenses medications per district policy and applicable laws.
• Produces letters, forms, reports and requisitions as needed or directed by school nurse.
• Other duties may be assigned.
• Current CPR certification required.

DISTRICT NURSE

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to….

• Effectively utilizes district technologies appropriate to the position and assumes responsibility for attending district training needed to successfully perform designated responsibilities as directed by building principal.
• Complies with State Law and District policies and regulations.
• Health Appraisal - Assesses and evaluates the health and developmental status of the student in order to make a nursing diagnosis and establish priority for action.
• Communicable Disease Program - Responsible for implementing the prevention and control of communicable diseases in the school, for the protection of all pupils and school personnel, in compliance with the rules and regulations established by the local and Missouri Department of Health & Senior Services.
• Environmental Health and Accident Prevention - Assists with plans to promote an environment conducive to health and safety.
• Health Education - Serves as a health consultant and resource person in health instruction curriculum by providing current scientific information from related fields.
• School-Community Health Program - Serves as a liaison among the parents, school, and community health matters.
• Care of the Sick and Injured - Assumes the responsibility in caring for the sick and injured in the school in accordance with school policy and the accepted standards of the Missouri Nurse Practice Act.

• Produces letters, forms, reports and requisitions as needed or directed by school nurse.

• Possession of a current license to practice as a professional Registered Nurse in Missouri preferred.
• Two years of successful clinical nursing practice as a Registered Nurse preferred. Course-work in Assessment Skills desirable.
• Knowledge of the following - the total School Health Program, specific school nursing responsibilities, factors influencing the learning process, public health principles, health education, and public relations.
• Ability to - interpret and carry out the School Health Programs; cooperate and work effectively with students, parents, faculty, and community; show flexibility in adapting to varying cultural and racial groups; make sound judgments and decisions in a wide variety of situations under pressure.
• Current certification in CPR (Adult/Child/Infant).

Terms of employment:7.5 Hours per day, 192 Days per year with Benefits
