Job summary

Thomson Reuters Labs in Switzerland seeks an experienced Director of Model Research & Development to steer hands-on post-training for large language models, including supervised fine-tuning, RL, and preference optimization. You will work with engineers and researchers to design experiments and improve data strategies.

Qualifications

• Post-training and reinforcement learning depth.
• Hands-on experience with supervised fine-tuning, preference optimization, and RL in agentic, multi-step settings.
• Experience with data-centric model development and data selection.
• Strong engineering depth with distributed training and evaluation infrastructure.
• Track record of shipped models or open-source contributions.

Responsibilities

• Lead hands-on execution of post-training for Thomson's LLMs, including supervised fine-tuning and RL.
• Set up and run agentic reinforcement-learning pipelines with SME involvement.
• Own data selection, mixture design, synthetic data generation, and evaluation design.
• Collaborate with infrastructure and evaluation teams to keep training pipelines reliable.
• Translate findings into roadmap and prioritization decisions.
