Cititec in Zurich is seeking a Base Metals Trader to join our team with a clear focus on the physical markets, especially copper and aluminium. The role demands understanding that physical trading goes beyond screens, including knowing the material, where it is needed, and structuring deals that work as cargo moves.

You will own trades from idea to delivery, develop market networks across producers, fabricators, and counterparties, and turn relationships into repeatable physical business.

Qualifikationen

• Several years of experience in physical non-ferrous metals.
• Experience with billets, wire rod, secondary materials or by-products would be particularly relevant.
• Commercially minded and capable of negotiating directly with counterparties.

Aufgaben

• Take ownership of physical trading opportunities from idea through to delivery, identify supply and demand dislocations, develop new sources and outlets, negotiate terms, structure transactions and coordinate with operations.
• Develop a genuine market network across producers, fabricators, processors, industrial consumers and other trading counterparties and turn relationships into repeatable physical business.
• Build and manage a portfolio of physical base metal trades.
• Source material and develop new customer channels.
• Price and negotiate spot, term and structured transactions.
• Understand product specifications, premiums, conversion economics and physical flows; work with logistics and operations on delivery, storage, quality and execution; manage exposure and consider pricing/hedging.
• Track market developments and identify where physical market inefficiencies can create trading opportunities; expand product and geographic scope over time.
