University of Bern is seeking a creative Communication Officer to join the CLIM+ team working closely with colleagues at the ETHZ and UNIBE. The role involves managing external communications across text and multimedia, supporting interdisciplinary research projects, and coordinating events with partners.
You will contribute to maintaining the organization's visual identity, manage websites and social media, and collaborate with the AKM department and other outreach entities.
The NCCR CLIM+ will establish the first fully interdisciplinary, Switzerland-wide climate research community that tackles pressing issues related to climate extremes such as heatwaves, floods, heavy rainfalls, droughts, wildfires, and further compound events. It will thereby and additionally interact with stakeholders ranging from public health to finance, agriculture, and water management.
By pooling competence from 20 leading Swiss research institutions across multiple natural and social science disciplines, NCCR CLIM+ will combine fundamental knowledge with transformational knowledge. Under the lead of University of Bern and ETH Zurich the newly founded Center for Climate Extremes and Resilience in Swiss Society (CERESS) will connect with numerous further universities and climate centers across Switzerland. CERESS will support nationwide research, co-design living labs, and produce actionable solutions, thus forming a new transdisciplinary nexus between science, society, practice, and politics.

Based at the University of Bern, the Communication Officer will work in close collaboration with her/his counterpart at the ETHZ, as well as all members of the CLIM+ management centre at UNIBE and ETHZ, the Directors, and all researchers of the consortium (Professors, Postdocs, PhDs).
We are looking for a creative, enthusiastic individual with experience in science and corporate communication. An experience with multimedia (images/graphics, video, audio) would be an advantage. Knowledge of internal communication solutions (e.g. MS Teams), Website content management systems (CMS), Design software (e.g. InDesign), and other communication tools are highly desired. You enjoy working independently, taking on responsibility and coming up with creative ideas. You are native German speaker or have excellent German skills, as well as fluent English and French in writing and speaking. Italian is also a plus. You know the Swiss media and journalism landscape.
