Job summary

Empa and Eawag invite applications for the Co-Lead of the Climate Solutions Hub (50%). This leadership role will steer strategic development and oversee a multidisciplinary team spanning engineering, materials, natural and building sciences.

You will liaise with research communities inside and outside the ETH Domain, manage high-level partnerships, pursue funding, and represent the Hub to directorates and advisory boards within a dynamic, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• Experience leading or shaping inter- and transdisciplinary research projects and communicating results to broad audiences.
• Institutional judgement across research organisations, navigating cultures and priorities.
• PhD in engineering, materials, building sciences, or related fields.
• Familiarity with Empa, the ETH Domain, and its research ecosystem.
• Working proficiency in English and German; networks in Swiss construction, energy, or infrastructure sectors are a plus.
• Clear vision for developing an open and inclusive team culture.
• Track record of raising third-party funding for multi-partner projects is a plus.
• Experience in co-leadership arrangements is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the strategy of the Climate Solutions Hub.
• Liaise with the Empa and Eawag communities, across the ETH Domain and beyond.
• Manage high-level stakeholder networks in academia, private and public sectors.
• Lead project and funding acquisition efforts.
• Represent the Hub towards directorates and scientific/impact advisory boards.
• Oversee the Hub team with three research groups and support staff; manage personnel and budget.
