Job summary

ETH Swiss GeoLab in Root near Lucerne invites a mission-driven leader to head the Natural Hazards Mission, guiding the research and development portfolio and delivering value for practice and public decision-making.

You will collaborate with public authorities, researchers and industry partners to shape roadmaps, budgets and governance within a growing interdisciplinary environment and translate user needs into actionable programs.

Qualifications

• Solid experience in at least one natural hazard domain.
• Experience leading complex projects or multi-partner initiatives.
• Excellent communication and collaboration across disciplines and organizations.
• Ability to manage priorities, resources and budgets in a transparent way.
• English fluency and at least B2 German or French.

Responsibilities

• As Natural Hazards Mission Lead, define and manage an ambitious R&D and innovation portfolio.
• Engage with authorities, practitioners, infrastructure operators, industry and expert communities.
• Translate needs into measurable outcomes, research priorities and solution requirements.
• Define mission roadmaps, milestones, and success criteria; track progress and adapt as needed.
• Manage the mission budget and ensure transparent reporting.
• Collaborate with GeoLab teams and external partners to implement solutions into operations.
• Build partnerships across ETH domain, researchers, public agencies and industry.
• Represent the Mission and communicate goals and lessons learned to stakeholders.
