Zusammenfassung

VAT Group, a leading vacuum solutions supplier, is seeking a Metrology Engineer to join its team in Haag, St. Gallen.

You will develop and optimize offline measurement programs from CAD data using Mitutoyo systems, perform 3D and tactile measurements, and support deviations and process improvements in production. You will advise internal teams on measurement issues and contribute to new product inspection planning.

Qualifikationen

  • Basic technical training; machining experience preferred.
  • Very good German; preferably good English.
  • Several years of experience in coordinate measuring technology, CMM programming, and optical inspection systems (Mitutoyo systems ideal).
  • Reading and interpreting technical drawings, especially geometric tolerances.
  • Knowledge of aluminium and stainless steel materials.
  • Strong math and descriptive geometry; good spatial awareness.
  • Familiar with ISO GPS standards; MBd is a plus.
  • Willingness to work in a two-shift system.

Aufgaben

  • Create and optimize offline measurement programs based on CAD models using Mitutoyo systems.
  • Perform tactile and scanning 3D measurements and ensure correct measurements by CMM operators.
  • Support deviation, corrective action, and improvement processes in production and with suppliers.
  • Advise and support internal departments on measurement- and process-related matters.
  • Promote knowledge transfer within measurement and production engineering.
  • Contribute to new product introductions with production inspection plans.
  • Perform initial measurements and validate results in new product introductions.
  • Apply SPC to monitor and improve production processes.
  • Use Q-DAS and similar tools to analyze process data.
  • Guide CMM operators in daily tasks.

Responsibilities
  • Create and optimize offline measurement programs based on CAD models using Mitutoyo systems.
  • Perform tactile and scanning 3D measurements and ensure that measurements are carried out correctly by CMM operators.
  • Support and assist with deviation, corrective action, and improvement processes in production and with suppliers.
  • Advise and support internal specialist departments on all measurement-related and process-related matters.
  • Promote professional exchange, collaboration, and knowledge transfer within measurement and production engineering.
  • Contribute to the introduction of new products, including the preparation of product‑specific production inspection plans.
  • Perform initial measurements and validate measurement results as part of new product introductions.
  • Apply statistical methods (SPC) to monitor, control, and continuously improve production processes.
  • Use statistical and quality software, particularly Q‑DAS, to analyse and evaluate process data.
  • Support and provide technical guidance to CMM operators in their daily work.
Qualifications
  • Basic technical training, ideally with experience in machining technology.
  • Very good German skills and preferably good English skills.
  • Several years of professional experience in coordinate measuring technology, CMM programming, and the use of optical inspection systems, ideally Mitutoyo systems.
  • Sound knowledge of reading and interpreting technical drawings, particularly regarding geometrical and positional tolerances.
  • Good knowledge of materials, particularly aluminium and stainless steel.
  • Strong knowledge of mathematics and descriptive geometry, as well as good spatial awareness.
  • Good knowledge of relevant standards and quality requirements.
  • A high degree of independence and the ability to provide technical support to CMM operators.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills when working with different specialist departments.
  • Very good communication skills and a confident manner in a technical environment.
  • Further training in ISO GPS is an advantage.
  • Experience with Model-Based Definition (MBD) is an advantage.
  • Willingness to work in a two‑shift system.
