Amazon Data Services Switzerland GmbH is seeking a Data Center Technician to support world-class cloud infrastructure in Zürich. You will install, configure and maintain racks, servers, and network gear, while following SOPs to protect customer data and ensure 24x7 availability.

The role emphasizes reliability, hands-on hardware troubleshooting, on-call rotations, and collaboration with remote hands and vendors.

Qualifikationen

• Hardware troubleshooting experience.
• Booting: POST, BIOS, PXE, Kickstart, GRUB/LILO, RAID.
• Some experience with network protocols: TCP/IP, Ethernet, Layer2 & Layer3 troubleshooting.
• Network hardware: copper and optical fiber cabling, switches, routers.
• Strong communication skills.
• This position also has a physical component requiring the ability to lift and rack equipment up to 18 kilos; it may require working in cramped spaces or in elevated locations while adhering to Health & Safety guidelines. Position is shift based and involves 24x7 coverage.

Aufgaben

• Maintain a high level of system reliability by prioritizing and resolving trouble tickets efficiently
• Escalation point and technical troubleshooter for all Systems and Network hardware problems
• Escalating to senior technicians and management as needed/required
• Troubleshoot technical issues on various platforms ranging from Systems through Networking
• Remediation of physical layer outages, both Systems & Network
• Adhere to security and safety best practices in the data center
• Meet 24x7 On-Call requirements and response during shift rotations.
• Install & configure racks of hosts in line with internal SLAs
• Triage & resolve trouble tickets for all devices in your region
• Data Center point of contact for all High Severity issues
• Physical replacement of server and network device parts
• Interact with third party vendors & contractors
• Contribute ideas to improve operational efficiency
• Engage with Remote Hands & Eyes
• Participate in team meetings for metric analysis and project status updates
• Help build the world’s largest Cloud infrastructure
