Zusammenfassung

Viking seeks an experienced Nautical Operations professional to drive fleet efficiency and emissions reporting for its Basel river fleet. You will own fuel budgeting, data dashboards, and environmental certifications, collaborating with captains, engineers, and shoreside teams.

With 5+ years in operational performance or sustainability, you’ll turn data into measurable improvements, manage Scope 1/2 inputs for ESG reporting, and support ISO 14001 activities while traveling ~10% per year.

Qualifikationen

  • 5+ years of experience in operational performance, efficiency, sustainability, environmental reporting, or related fields.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, able to turn operational data into practical actions and measurable improvements.
  • Good understanding of energy management, emissions reporting, ISO 14001, and continuous improvement principles.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, able to influence across crews, technical teams, vendors, and corporate functions.
  • Experience with data analysis and reporting tools such as Excel, Power BI, SharePoint, or similar platforms.
  • Maritime or inland waterway experience is an advantage.

Aufgaben

  • Own fleet efficiency reporting, including daily and weekly dashboards, route benchmarks, and fuel budget tracking.
  • Monitor fuel calculations, consumption, and pricing to identify savings opportunities and improve efficiency.
  • Maintain the Efficiency Manual and drive fuel and energy reduction initiatives without compromising safety and guest comfort.
  • Prepare Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions input for ESG reporting, ensuring data is complete and audit-ready.
  • Manage environmental certifications, including Green Award, and support ISO 14001 activities, audits, and regulatory monitoring.
  • Lead fleet monitoring systems and automation, and act as the central contact between crews and corporate reporting.

Role Description
  • Reports to the Director Nautical Operations and drives operational and environmental efficiency across Viking’s river fleet of 70+ vessels.
  • Owns fuel and energy reporting, budget tracking, variance analysis, and practical guidance for captains, engineers, and shoreside teams.
  • Maintains the Efficiency Manual, prepares river fleet input for ESG/emissions reporting, and manages environmental certifications.
  • Acts as Nautical Operations point of contact for fleet monitoring systems, automation, vendors, subscriptions, and data quality.
  • Based in Basel, Switzerland, with approximately 10% travel.

  • Manage environmental certifications, including Green Award, and support ISO 14001-related activities, audits, and regulatory monitoring.
  • Lead fleet monitoring systems and automation, manage vendors and subscriptions, and act as the central contact between crews, Nautical Operations, technical teams, and corporate reporting.

  • Success in this role means delivering reliable fleet efficiency and emissions reporting, supporting fuel and energy reduction initiatives, maintaining environmental certifications and monitoring systems, and engaging captains and engineers through practical guidance and continuous improvement.
