Jobtailor in Basel, Switzerland, seeks a senior leader to manage the Development Unit Leadership Team, drive portfolio strategy, and ensure governance across global programs in pharma/biotech.

You will lead analytics, risk assessments, and executive reporting, mentor colleagues, and strengthen cross‑functional collaboration with Clinical, Medical, Commercial and Investor Relations to advance strategic initiatives.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, business, strategy, project management or another relevant discipline.
• Strong relationship-management and influencing skills, with experience across global, matrixed teams.
• Excellent analytical thinking, judgment, attention to detail, and communication skills.
• Ability to translate complex portfolio information into clear recommendations for senior leaders.
• Experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology development, portfolio strategy, program management, or related environment.
• Understanding of drug development, portfolio governance, reporting and cross-functional interfaces.
• Experience managing senior leadership governance forums, including agenda development and action tracking.
• Proven ability to design and improve portfolio-management, prioritization, resource-allocation and risk-management processes.
• Fluency in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Aufgaben

• Lead operational management of the Development Unit Leadership Team, including agenda planning, meeting logistics, minutes and follow-up.
• Coordinate portfolio and strategy activities concerning pipeline progress, prioritization and executive reporting.
• Provide portfolio analytics, milestone and tollgate reporting, portfolio risk assessments and executive insights.
• Partner with Global Program Heads and senior functional leaders across Development and other functions.
• Drive portfolio resource planning and assess organizational capacity and execution risks.
• Design and implement processes supporting prioritization, allocation and risk‑management.
• Leverage data analytics and AI-enabled solutions to improve portfolio transparency and decision quality.
• Guide Global Program Teams on governance requirements and portfolio decision forums.
• Track leadership-TEAM objectives, decisions and commitments, flag risks and overdue actions.
• Provide strategic support to the Development Unit Head and Leadership Team.
• Foster Development Unit identity and engagement through events and communications.
• Exchange best practices with Operations teams across Development Units.
• Mentor colleagues and deputize for the Head of Portfolio Strategy and Operations when needed.

• Track leadership-team objectives, decisions and commitments, flagging risks, gaps, dependencies and overdue actions
• Provide strategic support to the Development Unit Head and Leadership Team on high-priority portfolio, organizational and business matters
• Foster Development Unit identity, collaboration and community through town halls, newsletters and strategic engagement initiatives
• Exchange best practices with Operations teams across other Development Units
• Mentor colleagues, support organizational change and deputize for the Head of Portfolio Strategy and Operations when required

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree, professional bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in life sciences, business, strategy, project management or another relevant discipline
• Strong relationship-management and influencing skills, with experience working effectively across global, matrixed and multidisciplinary teams
• Excellent analytical thinking and judgment, attention to detail / accuracy, and communication skills
• Ability to translate complex portfolio information into clear recommendations for senior leaders
• Experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology development, portfolio strategy, program management, business operations or a closely related environment such as consulting
• Strong understanding of drug-development, program and portfolio governance, reporting, program decision‑making and cross‑functional interfaces
• Demonstrated experience managing senior leadership or executive governance forums, including agenda development, decision documentation, action tracking and stakeholder preparation
• Proven ability to design and improve portfolio‑management, prioritization, resource‑allocation and risk‑management processes
• Fluency in English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills
