The CERN ATLAS Team plays a major role in the construction and integration of the future silicon ITk. The ITk parts are constructed, integrated at institutes, then transported to CERN for final assembly.
You will join the EP-ATL-TRK Tracker section to synchronize integration testing, support sites, and prepare cavern commissioning. Master's degree or PhD or equivalent experience in applied physics or engineering.
At CERN , the European Organization for Nuclear Research, physicists and engineers are probing the fundamental structure of the universe. Using the world's largest and most complex scientific instruments, they study the basic constituents of matter - fundamental particles that are made to collide together at close to the speed of light. The process gives physicists clues about how particles interact, and provides insights into the fundamental laws of nature.
The CERN ATLAS Team plays a major role in the construction and integration of the future silicon ATLAS Inner Tracker (ITk). The different parts of the ITk system are being constructed and integrated in institutes and then transported to CERN where the entire ITk will be assembled.
As an applied physicist or engineer in the CERN-ATL Team, you will join the Tracker section (EP-ATL-TRK) and work closely with the teams in the different institutes to synchronise the integration testing of the ATLAS ITk parts on surface, support their integration and commissioning into the ATLAS ITk and prepare the cavern commissioning.
Master's degree or PhD or equivalent relevant experience in the field of Applied Physicist or Engineering or a related field.
