Pilatus Flugzeugwerke AG in Manno is seeking an Airborne Software Lead to build and guide the software team, ensuring alignment with the headquarters and DO-178C compliant processes. The role focuses on planning, coordinating and mentoring across the software lifecycle in a highly regulated aerospace environment.

You will collaborate with Systems Engineering, Program Management and external partners, while maintaining strong ties with certification authorities to ensure successful project

Qualifications

• Engineering degree; extensive software development experience in regulated environments.
• Leadership of multicultural, multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong C programming, software architecture, testing and model-based development expertise (SCADE).
• Proven experience applying DO-178C and related standards (DO-330/DO-331) in certified aerospace projects.
• Familiarity with modern tools (Git, Jira, DOORS) and collaboration with internal/external stakeholders.
• Fluent English (C1+); Italian language skills are highly desired.

Your Tasks

• Establish and grow the Airborne Software team at our office, fostering a collaborative and high-performing engineering culture
• Act as the primary software focal point in and ensure close alignment with the Airborne Software organization at headquarters in Stans
• Plan, coordinate, and lead software development and verification activities throughout the software lifecycle, including definition of tasks and mentoring of software engineers
• Ensure compliance with aviation certification standards, development processes, quality requirements, budgets, and schedules
• Drive collaboration with internal stakeholders, such as Systems Engineering and Program Management, as well as external partners and suppliers
• Build and maintain strong relationships with certification authorities, vendors, and cross-functional teams to support successful project delivery

• Degree in Engineering (Bachelor's level or higher) and extensive experience in software development within a regulated environment
• Demonstrated success in leading multicultural and multidisciplinary engineering teams
• Strong expertise in C programming, software architecture, software testing, and model-based development (SCADE)
• Proven experience applying DO-178C and related standards (e.g., DO-330, DO-331) in certified aerospace projects
• Solid understanding of modern software development processes and tools, including Git, Jira, and DOORS
• Fluent English (C1 or higher), Italian language knowledge highly desired
