lastminute.com is seeking a Junior Accountant for its Accountancy team in Chiasso. You will contribute to the accounting closing of Swiss, Italian and UK entities, overseeing general accounting operations and ensuring data integrity under the Swiss Finance Manager.

The role requires 2–3 years in a similar role, fluency in English and Italian, and experience with MS Dynamics 365 Business Central. This position reports to the Swiss Finance Manager and supports tax compliance, audits, and statutory

Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting/Business/Economics or similar field.
• Knowledge of Italian tax legislation, VAT (IVA).
• 2–3 years in a similar role or in an audit firm.
• Fluency in English and Italian.
• Good Office knowledge.
• Experience in travel agency accounting and tax legislation.
• Experience with Microsoft Business Central ERP software.
• Big4 audit experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting operations and ensure data integrity.
• Contribute to month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Prepare annual statutory financial statements.
• Reconcile general ledgers and GL accounts.
• Ensure tax compliance (IVA) and deadlines, especially Italian tax rules.

The Accountant will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department and ensuring the integrity of financial data. This role requires an autonomous professional with 3–4 years of experience who possesses the technical expertise to manage the full accounting cycle, from primary journal entries to the final preparation of a simple Annual Statutory Financial Statements. The Accountant will work closely with the Finance Manager to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies.

The person, reporting to the Swiss Finance Manager, will contribute to the accounting closing of the different Swiss, Italian and UK entities of the Group and will oversee general accounting operations by controlling and verifying the financial transactions.

What your impact will be:

• Reconciliation of general ledger accounts and other GL accounts
• Perform accounting analyses and reporting to support decision-making purposes.
• Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
• Maintaining and reconciling fixed assets schedules
• Support month-end and year-end closing process
• Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
• Ensure compliance with GAAP principles
• Liaise with the Finance Manager to improve financial procedures
• Support the finance manager in the preparation of the several annual statutory financial statements
• Assure tax compliance and respect of tax deadlines, with a specific focus on Italian tax legislation, VAT (IVA) compliance, and related declarations.
• Assist with tax audits and tax returns
• Interact with internal and external auditors

Your expertise:

• Certificate or Degree in Accounting/Business/Economics or in a similar field,
• Knowledge of Italian tax legislation, specifically regarding VAT (IVA) and related tax declarations
• At least 2-3 years in a similar role and/or in an audit firm
• Fluency in English and Italian
• Good Office knowledge
• Experience in travel agency accounting and tax legislation
• Experience with Microsoft Business Central ERP software
• Experience in one of the big4 audit firms will be considered a plus
