About Us

Stagecoach Performing Arts has been inspiring young performers for over 30 years, with a presence in hundreds of communities worldwide. We provide high-quality, part-time training in singing, dancing, and acting for students aged 4–16 — nurturing not only their artistic talents but also their confidence, creativity, and resilience.

Our programs are designed to support every student, from enthusiastic beginners to experienced young performers. At Stagecoach, we aim to give our students Creative Courage for Life, fostering a warm, inclusive, and encouraging environment where they feel empowered to express themselves.

About the Role

As a Dance Teacher, you’ll work with three age groups throughout the day: ages 6–9, ages 10–12, and ages 13–16.

You’ll be responsible for planning and delivering fun, age-appropriate dance lessons in a group class setting that engage students of varying skill levels. Each group rotates through drama, singing, and dance classes, with you welcoming them into your studio for their dedicated 50‑minute dance lesson.

Throughout the year, you may be given some choreography, song selections or direction to prepare students for term‑end showcases or full‑scale musical theatre productions. Lessons should include a warm‑up, technique‑building activities, choreography, and a cool‑down. While structure is provided, you’ll have the freedom to bring your own creativity and teaching style to each session.

Dance styles typically are focused on musical theatre, jazz, and creative movement for stage. However, there is certainly room to bring in other styles of dance and explore a wide range of genres. You should also be comfortable focusing on integrating skills by teaching acting through dance, creative expression and stage presence. You’ll help students gain confidence, improve coordination and musicality, and develop ensemble awareness.

You’ll be part of a collaborative and supportive team, working together to create a joyful and structured performing arts experience for students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach dance to students aged 6–14 in weekly classes (Saturday mornings, 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM)
  • Plan and deliver engaging, age‑appropriate lessons focused on musical theatre and stage movement
  • Choreograph routines for group performances and showcase presentations
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment
  • Collaborate with singing and drama teachers to support ensemble and performance goals
  • Assist in directing and preparing students for end‑of‑term showcases and productions
Qualifications
  • Experience teaching dance or choreographing for children and youth
  • Background in dance, musical theatre, or performing arts (educational or professional)
  • Knowledge of and experience teaching in musical theatre styles such as jazz and “Broadway Jazz” or musical theatre
  • Energetic, reliable, and passionate about working with young people
  • Comfortable leading large group classes with students at varying levels
  • Vulnerable Sector Police Check (or willingness to obtain one)
Why Join Stagecoach
  • Join a passionate and creative teaching team
  • Help students build confidence and physical expression through dance
  • Opportunities for ongoing training and professional development
  • Competitive compensation for part‑time hours
  • Contribute to vibrant musical theatre performances and showcases
