About the job: z/OS System Programmer - Bilingual

Software International (SI) supplies technical talent to a variety of clients ranging from Fortune 100/500/1000 companies to small and mid-sized organizations in Canada/US. We currently have a 12-month renewable contract as a z/OS Systems Programmer with our large global infrastructure client. This could be an indefinite contract or move into a permanent role.

Type: Contract

Duration: 12 months to start + possible multiple extensions or transition to a permanent role

Rate: $110 - $130/hr + C2C, depending on experience

Language Requirements: English and French

Location: Remote, Canada

Job Role & Responsibilities

The z/OS Systems Programmer will provide services in complex, multi-vendor, multi-protocol network/systems environments. Responsibilities include:

• Interacting with customers, vendors, and management to ensure high satisfaction
• Serving as the primary point of contact for z/OS Operating Systems questions
• Identifying and resolving complex issues related to product/service installation, updates, configuration, operations, and performance
• Possessing in-depth knowledge of technical solutions and management tools
• Guiding functional objectives and technologies

Skills required include environment knowledge, communication and negotiation, problem-solving, and leadership. The role involves providing ongoing technical guidance, participating in planning, and influencing beyond the department. The position is accountable for departmental results, project impact, and customer satisfaction.

Technical Skills & Requirements

• Support for IBM z/OS mainframe environment, including installation, maintenance, and problem resolution
• Participation in Disaster Recovery tests and on-call rotations
• Experience with ISV software installation, customization, testing, and implementation
• Knowledge of user exits, system modifications, Assembler language, SMP/E, system utilities, ACF2, IO Gen, TSO, ISPF, HCD, and support for various system products
• Understanding of sysplex concepts, CPU keys, vendor collaboration, and support for multiple accounts
• Extensive DFSMS knowledge from an MVS perspective

Other skills include adaptation to change management processes, virtual team collaboration, and excellent communication in both French and English.
