What You’ll Be Doing
As an Intermediate z/OS System Programmer, you will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and testing of various IBM & OEM software products assigned to you. You will coordinate software implementation plans, upgrades, and testing exercises with senior systems programmers. Additionally, you will ensure all software products are configured for optimal performance within a z/OS Parallel Sysplex environment. You will adhere to CIBC compliance standards, controls, policies, and procedures. Collaboration with the mainframe engineering team to review and define maintenance schedules, roadmaps, and release upgrades is also part of your role. You will participate in annual disaster recovery testing and provide support for problem resolution related to your OEM software products.

How You’ll Succeed
Strategic Planning – Lead the development of strategic plans for IBM & OEM Software installations and upgrades, ensuring alignment with business goals. Design and monitor OEM software performance to support business outcomes.
Reporting & Analysis – Prepare reports and dashboards for leadership, providing insights into processes, trends, and risks. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data accuracy and drive strategic initiatives. Manage infrastructure project plans, timelines, and resources.
Communication – Establish a collaborative environment with clear and effective communication at all levels, promoting engagement and well-organized information sharing.
Who You Are
Experience: Minimum of 5 years in z/OS systems programming focusing on IBM & OEM Software (e.g., BMC, Broadcom, IBM, SAS). Experience with applying PTFs/APARs, IBM tools (IPCS, SMP/E, WLM, ISPF, ICKDSF, RACF, JES/2, OMEGAMON, MAINVIEW), scripting languages (JCL, REXX, CLIST), and knowledge of Assembler or Cobol is an asset.
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear business documents and engage effectively with others.
Time Management: Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects effectively.
Decision-Making: Strong critical thinking skills and knowledge of problem-solving tools and techniques.
Attention to Detail: Ability to notice and interpret details that others might overlook, informing decision-making.
