What you'll be doing
The role is responsible for managing and maintaining storage systems in mainframe environments running on IBM’s z/OS operating system. This role ensures that the mainframe's storage environment is stable, secure, resilient, and optimized for performance. Ensure data recoverability in case of hardware failure or disaster. Conduct regular tests of disaster recovery plans to ensure quick restoration of services. Analyze storage performance metrics and logs to identify storage bottlenecks and implement performance improvements. Monitor storage usage, ensuring efficient capacity planning. Manage the migration of data between different storage devices, ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity. Implement security measures for storage systems, ensuring data protection through encryption and access controls. Ensure compliance with industry regulations related to data storage and management. Respond to and resolve storage-related incidents, providing root cause analysis for system failures in a timely manner. Monitor GDPS operations, ensuring real-time replication of data and system health across geographically dispersed environments. Knowledge of GDPS (Geographically Dispersed Parallel Sysplex) and CSM (Copy Services Manager) operations and configurations.

How you'll succeed
Technical Expertise – leverage your IBM Storage expertise to ensure our storage platforms are configured for enhanced resiliency and security, with data at rest encryption enabled. Collaborate closely with our Sr Storage Analyst and the z/OS mainframe engineering team to lead storage activities in a Parallel Sysplex and GDPS automated environment.
Effective Communication – work to support organizational goals aligned with both IT and Business objectives, communicate effectively across technology teams, and influence teams to adopt solutions that keep critical systems secure and operationally resilient. Provide and document problem analysis, resolution, and prevention, and participate in periodic disaster recovery exercises to maintain readiness.
Relationship Management – collaborate with internal business partners in Application Development, Infrastructure, IT Operations, and IT Support to meet organizational goals. Work directly with hardware and software vendors, build your network, and deepen relationships. Use your communication skills to build strong partnerships and influence mutually beneficial outcomes.
Who you are
You have a minimum of 5+ years experience supporting IBM DS8000 SAN Storage & TS7700 Virtual Tape subsystems. You are proficient with system tools including z/OS, JCL, RACF, catalog management, IBM DFSMS, DFSMShsm, DFDSS, and IBM Spectrum Protect. You can analyze performance data and logs to optimize storage environments, manage hierarchical storage, and implement storage performance tuning. You are familiar with IBM DFSMS, ISMF, RMM, and implementing GDPS solutions for high availability and disaster recovery across multiple data centers.
You are a certified professional with accreditation and good standing in IBM Badge/Advanced Certification in Mainframe; incident, change, and problem handling.
