Overview

Youth Services Coordinator will plan, deliver and evaluate Family and Community Support Services programs for children and youth in Yellowhead County. Overall, the Youth Services Coordinator will ensure safe, quality preventative and educational programming directed towards children and youth.

Position Responsibilities

Program Development, Preparation and Delivery

  • Plan, develop, create and deliver programming focused on children and youth.
  • Ensure safe facilities and adequate supervision for all attending youth.
  • Arrange for facility use for programs developed.
  • Verify that all supplies are available for planned activities.
  • Arrange for special equipment, speakers, resources needed to be available for planned program.
  • Provide leadership and instruction during program delivery.
  • Maintain records on material usage and inventory.

Youth Committees and Community Agency Involvement

  • Provide assistance and advise existing youth groups and committees in planning for social, recreational, cultural and educational activities in the community.
  • Assist in the formation of youth groups and project committees.
  • Provide liaison with area schools and community agencies regarding the provision of youth services, including but not limited to the It’s Cool Committee, Bee Aware Committee, Drug Action Coalitions, etc.

Evaluation and Promotion of Youth Services

  • Promote Yellowhead County Family and Community Support Services and their programs.
  • Evaluate youth programs and develop policies and best practices for the FCSS Board.
  • Evaluate youth programs with youth residents of Yellowhead County.

Administrative Duties

  • Prepare and present agenda items and Board reports.
  • Maintain records and produces reports of activities planned.
  • Meet monthly with Yellowhead County programmers.
  • Develop the youth programming budgets as necessary.
  • Formulate a written evaluation and reference letter for youth programs.
  • Develop and submit grants and fundraising options for youth programs.
Requirements

Education/Skills

  • Post-secondary diploma in youth/social/recreation services
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekend
  • Valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle
  • Defensive Driving Certificate
  • Valid First Aid and CPR Certificate
  • Clear Child Welfare check
  • Clear RCMP check
  • One (1) year experience working with children and youth in a social/recreational setting.

Experience In

  • Two (2) years experience working with children and youth in a social/recreational setting.

Working Environment

  • Work is conducted in both an office and outdoor environment.
  • Hours of work are variable.
  • Requires dealing with parental concerns and conflicts between children.
  • Travel is required.
  • Requires transporting of supplies and equipment to programming sites.
Salary & Benefits

The salary range is currently $73,838 to $91,560 per year. Yellowhead County offers a competitive benefit package.
