Salary and Benefits: $60,000-70,000 annually; health and dental insurance and 401k available

Position Summary:
The Youth Programs Manager is responsible for the planning, management, and execution of youth-focused science education initiatives, primarily the annual St. Louis Region K–12 Science Fair serving over 1,500 students, the Honors Science Fair, and the Junior Academy of Science. This role ensures high-quality, inclusive programming that fosters STEM engagement and achievement among students across diverse backgrounds. The Youth Programs Manager collaborates with educators, scientists, volunteers, and community partners to deliver enriching experiences that promote scientific inquiry and innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
Regional Science Fair (Grades K–12):
Plan and execute the full lifecycle of the annual science fair, including outreach, registration, project review, logistics, judging recruitment and coordination, awards, and event execution.
Recruit, train, and manage a team of volunteers and judges.
In collaboration with the Director of Programs and Executive Director, develop and manage the science fair budget, timelines, and evaluation metrics.
Foster partnerships with schools, districts, sponsors, and community stakeholders to expand participation and impact.
Ensure the fair meets accessibility, safety, and equity standards.
Junior Academy of Science:
Lead year-round programming for 6th-12th grade students that exposes them to scientific careers in the St. Louis region.
Plan and execute field trips to STEM employers and research labs.
Build a community of student scientists and mentors; in partnership with Manager of Strategy and Partnerships, help maintain a network of educators, researchers, and alumni.
In collaboration with the Director of Programs and Executive Director, develop and manage the Junior Academy budget, timelines, and evaluation metrics.
General Responsibilities:
Track and report on program outcomes and impact; prepare data and narratives for internal reports, grant proposals, and presentations.
Represent the organization at local and regional STEM education events.
Ensure all programming aligns with organizational values and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) practices.
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in education, science, STEM education, youth development, or a related field.
3+ years of experience in program management, youth engagement, or educational event planning.
Demonstrated experience working with K–12 students, educators, and community organizations.
Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in digital tools such as MS Office, Google Workspace, and event/project management software.
Passion for youth development and STEM education, with a commitment to equity and inclusion.
Working Conditions:
Full-time, some evenings and weekends required, especially during key program periods.
Hybrid role: remote, in-office, and some travel around the St. Louis region.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Must have driver’s license and reliable transportation.
