Job summary

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in health or social services, youth and childcare worker, or equivalent.
• Experience creating a safe and inclusive environment, including virtual environments.
• Training in-program planning, group facilitation and leadership development.
• In-person or virtual programming on various platforms.
• Experience working with vulnerable populations.
• Knowledge of community resources.
• Fluency in English required; Somali, Arabic and French assets.
• Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle is an asset.
• First Aid and CPR (level C) required.

Responsibilities

• Effectively carry out outreach activities to community members including identification—needs/interests based on Centre’s Strategic Plan.
• Respect diversity and work to promote health and address social determinants of health.
• Provide linkages with broader community resource base.
• Provide practical assistance and referrals to clients as appropriate.
• Create a supportive environment for community members to address barriers.
• Foster ongoing community engagement and capacity-building.
• Build and maintain community partnerships with supervisor.
• Promote/advertise and inform the community on relevant programs and services.
• Implement conflict prevention strategies with supervisor training as appropriate.
• Assist in developing and implementing opportunities, programs, events.
• Inform program proposals with timelines, budget, activities.
• Develop and facilitate workshops and programming.
• Contribute to evaluation framework and report findings.
• Provide in-person programming and apply virtual programming.
• Participate in continuous quality improvement.
• Maintain records for petty cash, forms, crisis interventions/referrals, evaluation.
• Ensure security of program space and property.
• Attend meetings and represent the program.
• Participate in supervision meetings.
• Assist with training and onboarding of students and volunteers.
• Work with all team members and across teams.
• Provide recommendations for program design, evaluation and reporting.
• Flexibility for weekends/evenings.
