Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of Katzie youth? Do you have a knack for creating fun and educational activities?

If so, we want YOU to join our team as a permanent full-time Youth Program Coordinator! Reporting to the Human and Social Services Manager, this role helps shape the future of Katzie youth by providing them with fun, educational, and culturally enriching experiences.

This position is exclusively for members of the Katzie First Nation who have experience or a keen interest in child and youth work. The role involves coordinating programs on Barnston Island and in Pitt Meadows. A valid BC driver's license is required.

A Snapshot of what you'll do:

  • Create Awesome Programs: Develop and coordinate exciting after-school, spring break, and summer activities for Katzie youth aged 5 to 18.
  • Be a Mentor: Provide one-on-one support and mentorship to youth, helping them grow and thrive.
  • Handle Reporting & Admin Tasks: Manage financial documentation, submit cheque requisitions, complete program reports for funders, contribute to proposal and grant writing, and maintain shared activity calendars.
  • Plan Epic Events: Work with the team to plan and execute community-building events that bring everyone together.
  • Showcase Your Creativity: Create engaging media presentations to promote youth activities on our social platforms and website.
  • Build Relationships: Maintain open communication with parents and liaise with outside agencies, school districts, and the community.

What We're Looking For:

  • Post-secondary education in Early Childhood Education (ECE), Child and Youth Work (CYW), or Social Work, combined with relevant work or voluntary experience with children, youth, and families. Equivalent combinations of education, work, or comparable lived experience will be considered.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including seeking and establishing relationships, mediating, and resolving disputes.
  • Proficient in written, verbal, and visual communication, with demonstrated experience in facilitation and public speaking.
  • Strong organizational and program planning skills for coordinating youth activities and programs.
  • Flexibility and the ability to adapt to rapidly changing work priorities, ensuring prioritizing and completing tasks on time.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in teams to complete tasks using sound judgment. Commitment to and understanding of Indigenous (Katzie) cultural teachings and practices.
  • Excellent computer skills with considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office, Canva, and Publisher.

Other Requirements for this position are:

  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check (vulnerable sector)
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
  • Valid BC Driver’s License with a clean driver’s abstract
  • Basic First Aid Certification
  • Food Safe Certification
