Job Description

MU TITLE: Educational Program Associate I

LOCATION: Benton County - Warsaw, MO

The University of Missouri (MU) Office of Extension and Engagement's land-grant mission is to improve lives, communities, and economies by providing relevant educational strategies across Missouri. Our faculty and staff collaborate with researchers and community leaders to develop programs addressing educational attainment, environmental concerns, community and economic development, global food systems, and health systems. The MU Extension 4-H Center for Youth Development focuses on developing communities of young people learning citizenship, leadership, and life skills. 4-H is supported by public and private resources to enrich learning experiences for youth and adults. More info at 4-H Missouri.

This role will support 4-H Youth Development programs in the assigned area, under the supervision of the 4-H Youth Development Specialist.

Essential Duties
  1. Advocate for positive youth development within the community and MU Extension.
  2. Build and expand local partnerships with schools, community centers, and youth organizations.
  3. Enhance internal partnerships among UM Colleges and Extension programs.
  4. Assist with planning, management, marketing, implementation, and evaluation of researched-based curricula on topics like Leadership, Civic Engagement, STEM, Healthy Living, Agriculture, and Natural Resources, including both face-to-face and online activities.
  5. Foster volunteer and community partner capacity, promoting developmental relationships.
  6. Engage and empower volunteers and partners to implement 4-H programs effectively.
  7. Develop youth leadership capacity.
  8. Assist in managing financial and in-kind resources.
  9. Coordinate educational events, contests, camps, and programs with a positive youth development approach.
  10. Promote statewide and national events and contests.
  11. Report program impacts and accomplishments to supervisors, funders, and stakeholders.
  12. Maintain records and prepare reports for 4-H Youth Development Programs.
  13. Ensure accessibility of extension programs for all county residents.
  14. Participate in training and professional development to enhance skills related to 4-H Youth Development.
  15. Conduct activities in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  16. Perform other duties as needed to support MU Extension's mission.
Leadership

Supervision is received from the Field Specialist in 4-H Youth Development. This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Shift

Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., with travel and flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends, as required.

Minimum Qualifications

An Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience, with some relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

At least six hours in youth development domains (PRKC), experience with group work involving children, ability to travel and work flexible hours, self-motivation, and initiative.

  • Proficiency in social media and IT tools, organization, communication, and program promotion.

Salary and Benefits

Hourly wage: $14.00 - $17.00, Grade GGS-005. This position is not eligible for university benefits but may participate in the Tax-Deferred Annuity Plan (403b). For details, visit the Benefits Website.
