Job Description

MU TITLE: Educational Program Associate III
LOCATION: Platte County - Kansas City, MO

The University of Missouri (MU) Office of Extension and Engagement's land-grant mission is to improve lives, communities, and economies through educational strategies across Missouri. Our faculty and staff work with researchers and community leaders to develop programs addressing educational attainment, environmental concerns, community and economic development, global food systems, and health systems. The MU Extension 4-H Center for Youth Development focuses on developing communities of young people in Missouri, emphasizing citizenship, leadership, and life skills. For more about 4-H, visit 4h.missouri.edu.

This position will support 4-H Youth Development programs in the assigned area, under the supervision of the 4-H Youth Development Specialist/Educator.

Essential Duties
  1. Advocate for positive youth development within the community and MU Extension.
  2. Coordinate and conduct educational events, contests, camps, and programs using a positive youth development approach.
  3. Build and expand local partnerships to grow the 4-H program, including schools, community centers, and youth organizations.
  4. Develop internal partnerships with other UM colleges and Missouri Extension programs.
  5. Plan, manage, market, implement, and evaluate researched-based curricula focused on Leadership, Civic Engagement, STEM, Healthy Living, Agriculture, Natural Resources, and career exploration, including face-to-face and online activities.
  6. Build capacity among volunteers and community partners, fostering relationships for program growth.
  7. Engage and empower volunteers and community partners for effective program delivery.
  8. Develop youth leadership capacity.
  9. Assist in managing financial and in-kind resources.
  10. Promote statewide events and contests, reporting on program impacts and accomplishments.
  11. Maintain records and prepare reports for 4-H Youth Development Programs.
  12. Ensure accessible participation in extension programs for all individuals in the county.
  13. Participate in training and professional development to enhance skills related to 4-H Youth Development.
  14. Conduct activities in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  15. Support MU Extension's mission through additional duties as assigned.
Leadership

Supervision is received from the Field Specialist/Educator in 4-H Youth Development. This position does not entail supervisory responsibilities.

University Information

Shift

Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (25 hours/week). Travel and flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends, are required.

Minimum Qualifications

An associate degree or equivalent education and experience, with at least 6 months of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Six or more hours in youth development domains; experience with group work involving children; ability to travel and work flexible hours; self-motivation and initiative.
