Job summary

A regional healthcare organization is seeking a Youth Program Administrator to assist in the development and administration of volunteer programming for youth. The ideal candidate will have a relevant diploma or degree and at least three years of related experience. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills are essential. The position requires travel and a valid BC Driver's License. This role offers a chance to positively impact youth engagement in the community.

Job description

In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reporting to the Youth Program Leader, Volunteer Engagement (Leader) the Youth Program Administrator is responsible for assisting the Leader with maintenance and administration of the youth volunteer programming, including: recruitment, screening, orientation & training, supervision, recognition, and evaluation. In addition, the Youth Program Administrator will work together with the Leader on program development, and with team members on site specific program implementation.

The Youth Program Administrator will support the optimal functioning of the Volunteer Resources and Engagement team, stepping in to support other duties and actions as required.

Travel will be a requirement of this position. Transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of Island Health in accordance with the service assignment and may require the use of a personal vehicle.

QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Training And Experience

A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a college diploma or university degree in Child and Youth Care, Health Sciences, Education, Social Sciences or related field. A minimum of three years related experience. Experience as a volunteer.

Valid BC Driver's License.

  • Experience supporting volunteers or volunteer teams is an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience as a volunteer is an asset.
  • Demonstrated strengths in MS Office Suite, experience working within a database, and other administrative skills; understanding of volunteer databases an asset.
  • Solid understanding of the Volunteer Management Cycle.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and organize events, in person and virtual.
  • Proactive mind-set, willing to create new connections and develop partnerships.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and produce results with minimal supervision.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
