Job summary

The Prince Albert Grand Council is seeking a full-time Youth Coordinator to oversee the Land Based Healing Project and youth programming in the PAGC communities. The role focuses on empowering youth and families through on-the-land activities, cultural teachings, and holistic programming, developed with the YAC to foster belonging, safety and personal growth.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 24 years old and a resident of the community.
  • Experience working with youth, young adults and families.
  • CPR, AED, Wilderness Safety and First Aid and ASIST certifications required within 60 days of hire.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Knowledgeable of survival skills and traditional foods.
  • Willing to work on the land with youth, young adults and families in all seasons.

Responsibilities

  • Plan a program with YAC and PAGC ELC and PAGC Land Based Team, coordinating and promoting youth, young adult, and family programming including sports.
  • Address needs using a strength-based model focusing on belonging, grief, relationships, health practices and coping skills.
  • Include cultural teachings, language classes and proper protocols.
  • Engage and empower youth to develop leadership and strong self-esteem.
  • Work hands-on in programs, activities and events as needed.
  • Provide quality interaction to members, volunteers and participants.
  • Assist with implementation and delivery of on-the-land training and meeting coordination.
  • Collaborate with volunteers and community staff and oversee daily project operations.
