Reporting to : Manager of Youth Supportive Housing

About us :

We open doors for youth and prevent adult homelessness. We serve at-risk youth experiencing homelessness, aging out of care, or fleeing violence at home. We offer safe housing, community, and support to help youth make healthy choices and work toward a brighter future.

Position Overview :

The Youth Housing Support (YHS) position will be the primary day contact for youth. The program aims to provide housing and support for youth involved with MCFD. The role involves supporting youth in a housing setting to manage stressors and potential crises while focusing on individual goals. The position works in a team environment, utilizing a holistic approach to address each youth's needs around mental health, life skills, community supports, housing, and other areas.

This is a permanent full-time position working Friday to Sunday and every second Thursday, with 10-hour shifts from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm. The hourly wage ranges from $25.49 to $29.55, depending on experience and skills. The successful candidate will start at no higher than the midpoint of this range.

Education & Experience :

• A relevant bachelor’s degree such as in Social Work or Child & Youth Care.
• Minimum of 12 years of experience working with vulnerable populations and at-risk youth. Other combinations of education, experience, and training may be considered.
• Experience facilitating programming is an asset.
• ASIST and NVCI training are assets.

Working Conditions :

• Based on operational needs, this role may be temporarily assigned to another location to ensure appropriate program coverage. For long-term relocations, the Society will provide proper notice.
• Threshold offers an annual training and professional development allowance.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a wraparound care team.

Special Requirements :

• Emergency First Aid certificate.
• Food Safe Certificate.
• Immunization records, including TB testing.
• Criminal Record Check completed by Threshold.
• Agreement to follow policies and procedures.
