Job summary

Family Transition Place in Ontario is seeking a dedicated program facilitator to deliver educational programs for classrooms and groups, promoting healthy relationships and creating engaging activities and materials.

You will collaborate with school staff and community partners, provide referrals and support, and help develop strategies to foster a positive classroom climate. The role is a temporary replacement with flexible hours and a wellness fund.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in the Social Services field or equivalent training.
  • Knowledge of violence against women and children issues.
  • Understanding of adolescent transitions and developmental/behaviour challenges.
  • Experience with children and youth in large groups.
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviours with positive reinforcement.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate educational programs to classrooms and small groups.

Job description

Responsibilities will include:
  • Facilitating educational programs to classrooms and small groups to help promote and build healthy relationships
  • Researching, developing and implementing strategies that promote healthy relationships and a positive classroom climate
  • Creating effective activities and resource materials to support program objectives
  • Collaborating with school staff and other community groups and agencies
  • Provide referrals and support when needed
Qualifications
  • Post-Secondary Education in the Social Services field or equivalent experience and specialized training in a closely related field
  • Knowledge of violence against women and children issues
  • An understanding of adolescent transitions with a focus on developmental / behavioural challenges
  • Experience working with children and youth in large group settings
  • Skills in managing challenging behaviours with a focus on positive reinforcement and constructive correction
  • Strong communication skills both written and oral
  • Ability to deliver effective presentations and workshops to the general public and students
  • Skills in the use of a computer for facilitating educational programs, correspondence and report writing (specifically PowerPoint, Excel, Access Database and Word)
  • Ability to work cooperatively as a team member and independently
  • A second language would be an asset
Working Conditions:
  • Standing for periods of time facilitating program delivery
  • Repetitive lifting and carrying of equipment and supplies
  • Rural and urban driving conditions in all seasons
Hours of Work:
  • School based hours Monday to Friday with potential for evening or weekend work as needed
Compensation
  • $25.93 to $36.01 per hour
  • Wellness Spending Fund available
