Youth & Childcare Worker

BC Provincial School for the Deaf

Full time TERM position effective September 2024

Job Requirements:

  1. Completion of a relevant university degree plus two years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Valid BC Driver's license (Class 5).
  3. Thorough knowledge of a variety of behaviour management strategies.
  4. Demonstrated ability to employ preventive or interventive behaviour management.
  5. Knowledge of current community and agency resources.
  6. Proficiency in American Sign Language required.

Job Duties:

  1. Works under the direction of a district team that evaluates and monitors the effectiveness of child and youth worker programs and supports.
  2. Facilitates positive, collaborative partnerships with community agencies that work to address the needs of at-risk and vulnerable children and youth.
  3. Implements and adapts the educational plan to meet the individual needs of students.
  4. Intervenes in crisis situations and assists in developing and implementing appropriate strategies.

This position is 35 hours/week. Hours of work are Monday-Friday, 08:30-16:00. The hourly rate of pay is $36.09 per hour (effective July 1, 2024 $37.17 per hour).
