GetHired, Inc. is seeking a Youth Care/Support Worker – Overnight to supervise and support youth in an Indigenous community setting in Winnipeg, MB. The role runs 11:45 p.m. to 8:00 a.m., with weekend shifts as needed and a $21.40 per hour total compensation including a $1 shift premium.

The successful candidate will provide mentorship, ensure a safe environment, document required records, and collaborate with the Site Manager to support youth in independent living skills and wellbeing.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Child and Youth Care preferred.
  • Experience in Indigenous community setting with knowledge of cultural-based services.
  • Trauma-informed approach for urban Indigenous youth at risk or experiencing homelessness or exploitation.
  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations professionally.
  • Strong assessment, relationship-building, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Community work with youth to improve wellness across housing, legal, and health areas.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Forms).
  • Required: Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse Registry Check, and Prior Contact Check.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification and a Valid Class 5 Driver's License.

Responsibilities

  • Provide supervision and a safe environment for youth.
  • Mentor youth and support development of independent living skills.
  • Provide resource information, referrals, and advocacy for youth.
  • Maintain a safe, healthy, and clean environment for all youth participants.
  • Keep accurate documentation including logbooks, MAR forms, incident reports, etc.
  • Collaborate with Site Manager and team to support program goals.

Job description

Position: Youth Care/Support Worker – Overnight

Salary:$20.40 per hour + $1.00 per hour shift premium for all overnight hours workedClassification:Full Time, 32 - 40 hours per week
Days of Work:Days of work vary depending on position and will include weekendsHours of Work:11:45 p.m. – 8:00 a.m.
Reports To:Site Manager

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Provide supervision and ensure a safe environment for youth.
  • Act as a positive role model and provide mentorship to support youth in the development of independent living skills.
  • Provide resource information, complete referrals, and act as an advocate for youth upon request.
  • Ensure a safe, healthy, and clean environment for all youth participants.
  • Maintain clean working environment and space.
  • Ensure appropriate documentation as required. This includes logbook entries, MAR forms, incident reports, and all other documentation as required.

Qualifications Required:

  • A combination of appropriate education and employment history; post‑secondary in the Child and Youth Care field is preferred.
  • Experience working in an Indigenous community setting with knowledge of cultural-based services.
  • Demonstrated understanding of a trauma informed approach in working with urban Indigenous youth with particular emphasis on youth with chronic involvement with the child welfare system, at risk for or experiencing homelessness and at risk for and or experiencing exploitation.
  • Capacity to manage sensitive and confidential situations with professionalism.
  • Effective assessment, relationship building, problem solving, and organizational skills.
  • Community work experience with youth to improve wellness, coping skills, and empowerment in the following areas: poverty, housing, legal, social assistance, education, family violence, substance use, crisis intervention, mental health, colonization.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and independently without prompting.
  • Proven ability to work in a changing work environment.
  • Understanding and capacity to work within a harm reduction and trauma informed framework.
  • Proficiency in computer use including Microsoft 365 applications (word, excel, forms, etc.).
  • Current Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse Registry Check, and Prior Contact Check required.
  • Valid CPR/First Aid Certification.
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License
