Qualifications

Job description

This position is for skilled technicians in the Sudbury Area looking to take their career to the next level with Liebherr! As a Heavy Equipment Field Technician, you will be working within our earthmoving products division to repair, troubleshoot, overhaul, and maintain equipment in the construction and allied services sector.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and safely repair Liebherr's Earth Moving Technology equipment such as Material Handlers, Telehandlers, Wheel Loaders, Excavators, Bulldozers, Crawler Loaders.
  • Perform major repairs including hydraulic pump replacements, hydraulic component replacements, engine replacements, or repairs.
  • Troubleshoot mag grapple issues, machine error codes, SCR system error codes, and perform repairs as necessary.
  • Update the service supervisor on job status, parts required, etc.
  • Complete accurate warranty documentation.
  • Maintain tool inventory on the service truck.
  • Assemble new machines on-site as per sales when necessary.
  • Perform factory updates or modifications as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Competencies

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Heavy Equipment Technician (field service experience strongly preferred).
  • Provincially Recognized Heavy Equipment Certification (e.g., 421A or Red Seal) strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical components.
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills, including component exchange, repair, and warranty activities.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical drawings.
  • Effective communication skills for detailed and complex information.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently for extended periods.
  • Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office suite.
