Youth Support Worker



We are seeking a Youth Support Worker for the Eskasoni Youth Access Space. Under the direction of the Eskasoni Youth Access Space Program Coordinator, Youth Support worker will implement youth programming at both the YAS building, outdoors and in Eskasoni Schools.


The ideal candidate will be well organized, self-motivated, enjoy working with children and youth and willing to work both indoors and outdoors. Youth programs will include but are not limited to: Self Esteem programs, Anger Management, Healthy Relationships, bullying, grief, budgeting/life skills and culture.


Reports to:


Youth Access Space Coordinator


Responsibilities include:



  • Implement youth programs, both in community and in schools

  • Work as part of a team

  • Work outdoors when programs require

  • Coordinate supplies for YAS programs


Requirements:



  • High School or equivalent

  • Experience working with children and youth



  • Criminal record check

  • Child Abuse registry (in Nova Scotia) check

  • Knowledge of Mi’kmaq culture, communication styles and values systems

  • Ability to speak Mi’kmaq an asset.



Job Type: Full time, Flexible work week according to program schedule
