Job summary

Gerdau North America in Cambridge, Ontario is hiring a Yard Operator to keep our yard safe, organized, and productive. You will operate loaders and other mobile equipment, inspect scrap materials, and support loading, unloading, and processing metals.

You will join a team that values safety, reliability, and teamwork, with daily maintenance checks and a focus on quality and customer service. This is a full-time, in-person role with uniforms and PPE provided.

• Experience operating heavy equipment is an asset.
• Interest in learning scrap grading and recycling operations.

Responsibilities

• Operate loaders, material handlers, and other mobile equipment safely and efficiently
• Inspect incoming and outgoing scrap materials for quality and environmental standards
• Assist with loading, unloading, and processing ferrous and non-ferrous materials
• Perform daily equipment inspections and routine maintenance checks
• Support inventory management and operational efficiency initiatives
• Deliver outstanding customer service and work collaboratively with your team
• Participate in daily safety activities and uphold Gerdau's strong safety culture
