Position Summary:

The yard operator is responsible for branding, framing, inspecting, and preparing product for treatment.

Schedule: Monday - Friday 6am - 2pm

Responsibilities:

• Inspects product for compliance to standards.
• Modifies products’ length or surface using chainsaw and wood wizard.
• Brand and tag product to specifications.
• Re-classify products as required and record re-classifications accurately.
• Safe and responsible operation of company equipment at all times.
• Clean-up of working area.
• Abides by OHSA (Occupational Health and Safety Act) workplace health and safety standards.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Minimum one year of related experience, an asset.
• Chainsaw certificate, an asset.
• Proficiency in English.

Core Competencies:

• Knowledge of wood/lumber products is an asset (i.e. length, width, dimensions).
• Ability to work in a timely manner.
• Ability to use hand tools (i.e. barding tools, side cutters, etc.).
• Attention to detail (to follow safety guidelines).
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
• Ability to follow signed S.O.P.
• Basic computer skills – Windows.
• Basic Math Skills.
