Job summary

Total Sanitation Services in Hillsburgh, Ontario, is seeking a Yard Handler to maintain porta potties, trailers, and the yard. You will perform groundskeeping, prep and service units, and support daily operations.

The role requires physical stamina, ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and reliability for site visits and events. We offer full-time, on-site work, competitive hourly pay, and benefits.

Qualifications

• Handyman experience in plumbing, electrical, mechanical, or millwright tasks is preferred.
• Proficient with basic hand and power tools.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in varying weather.
• Reliable and able to commute to work consistently.
• Strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Clean and repair portable units, trailers, and lavatories; may require on-site service.
• Maintain shop, asset, and yard inventory.
• Assist with deliveries and pickups as required.
• Receive stock orders and organize within the warehouse/shop.
• Clean and maintain company building/shop.
• Complete yard maintenance at shop/yard.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervision.

About the Role

The Yard Handler maintains the property, porta potties, and trailers to ensure a clean, safe, and organized site. This role is responsible for routine groundskeeping, prepping and servicing porta potties, cleaning and maintaining trailers, and managing trash cans and waste disposal. Performs inspections, minor repairs, and preventive maintenance tasks to support daily operations and maintain site standards.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for cleaning portable units and the repair of portable units, trailers, and lavatories – may require a service call to customer/client property.
• Maintain and account for shop, asset, and yard inventory.
• Assist with deliveries and pickups as required.
• Responsible for receiving stock orders and organizing within the warehouse/shop.
• Clean and maintain company building/shop.
• Complete yard maintenance at shop/yard.
• All other duties as assigned by supervisory/management team.

Qualifications

• Handyman experience (plumbing, electrical, mechanical, millwright) is preferred.
• Proficient in the use of basic hand and power tools.
• Forklift license is considered an asset.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs. and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Capable of standing and being on your feet for extended periods.
• Willing and able to work at event and customer sites for set-up and tear down.
• Must be reliable and able to commute to work consistently.
• Strong communication skills.

Pay: $19 - $21per hour
