Job summary

A healthcare provider in Manitoba is seeking a Wound Care Consultant to manage patient care in wound healing. The candidate will provide staff education, perform clinical tasks, and contribute to community health initiatives. Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview
Experience
  • Recent nursing experience in enterostomal/skin and wound care management required.
  • Previous experience in staff education and patient and family teaching an asset.
  • Recent experience in performing ankle brachial index (ABI/ABPI) an asset.
  • Knowledge of community (homecare) and primary health delivery model an asset.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Master’s degree in Nursing is preferred.
  • Completion of post graduate course work and/or certification a recognized wound care program:
    • Interprofessional Wound Care course–IIWC , Canadian Association Enterostomal Therapy–CAET, Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse–WOCN. Certified Diabetic education an asset.
    • Competency with word processing and presentation programs, required.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • Must be registered or eligible for registration with the College of Nurses of Manitoba (C.R.N.M.).
  • Active participation in professional associations e.g. Association of Regulated Nurses of Manitoba (ARNM) preferred.
  • CPR at the Health Care Provider Level required.

  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills.

Physical Requirements
  • Hours of work are flexible and may include evening or weekend shifts as required.
  • Work is primarily in a clinical setting.
