Job Description

In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of Island Health (Vancouver Island Health Authority), patient and staff safety is a priority and a shared responsibility. The role involves developing, implementing, and evaluating programs/services aligned with Island Health's mission, utilizing clinical expertise, and collaborating with healthcare teams. The clinician provides direct nursing care, educates patients, and promotes self-management, focusing on wound and burn care, including assessment and treatment of various vascular and neuropathic conditions.

Travel may be required, and transportation arrangements must meet operational needs, possibly involving a personal vehicle.

Qualifications

  • Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN.
  • Graduation from a recognized nursing program; CNA certification in Wound, Ostomy, and Continence or equivalent, or completion of relevant wound care programs.
  • Minimum three years recent wound care experience or equivalent education and training.
  • Experience with wound/burn management, including chronic venous disease, ulcers, and diabetic foot ulcers.
  • Valid BC Driver's License.

Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of nursing practice standards and current practices in wound care.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and work independently in a clinical setting.
  • Competence in patient assessment, education, and equipment operation.
  • Empathy and cultural sensitivity.
