The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design and at least 2 years of experience in the field, demonstrating a strong commitment to customer satisfaction and effective communication skills. Term: Full time, 35 hours/Per Week

THE POSITION:

The primary responsibility of the Workplace Designer is to collaborate with Sales/project team providing strategic, creative and technical design support. This position is accountable for effectively and efficiently executing design projects to successful completion including scope of work definition, meeting the client’s business goals & objectives, project timeline development, strategic product application development, specification and specification checking in partnership with Sales. The Workplace Designer actively manages all aspects of the design process by working as a team member to ensure high quality customer first support and deliverables in the pursuit of securing business and meeting annual sales goals. Supports COI’s sales culture through a lens of Speed to Market.

DUTIES & RESONSIBILITIES

Space & Furniture Programming through a life of an order

· Develop typical drawings for the various types of spaces in each project, ensure the typicals align with client needs as identified in the qualification phase

· Continuously validates projects through a Value Engineering lens. Strives to create applications and drive a winning strategy

· Create space plans using typicals allowing client to visualize overall project scope

· Translate the furniture plans into specifications for project budgeting/Order submission

· Final order files for client sign-off

· Generate clean crisp renderings that allow clients and A+D partners to accurately visualize product solutions

· Create presentation packages based on design standards

· Develop final sign-off & installation packages that include key plans/floor plans, renderings, finish selections, electrical coordination & elevations (if applicable), notes & legends

Quality Assurance

· produces accurate specifications

· completes double check and reporting process

· Collaborate with internal project team to outline roles & responsibilities, outline project timelines and critical project milestones to ensure we meet customer expectations and project goals.

· Collaborate with Architects and Designers, as necessary to ensure the details of the project align with the overall vision of the project while satisfying the needs of the customer

· Consult with Engineers and Contractors, as necessary, to review and qualify electrical requirements align

Departmental practice & continuous learning

· Adhere to departmental processes – Drawing standards, saving conventions, folder structure and all standard work practices etc.

· Supports continuous improvement philosophy, highlighting problems/waste to Director by using a structure method for eliminating them

· Maintains a high level of product knowledge by adhering to individual training objectives defined by area Director

· Continues knowledge gathering on industry trends, best practices and strategic insights

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

· A Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design / Environmental Design is required.

· 2+ years’ experience in an Interior Design role.

· The ability to pass a Criminal Background Check if required.

· Fluent written and spoken English.

TECHINCAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be proficient in all programs listed below and remain current with periodical upgrading/training:

· Experience using MS Suite for data analysis and communication (Excel, Outlook)

· Internal Intranet

· Working knowledge of applicable building codes, ADA (Barrier Free) regulations, etc. in local market. Nationally an asset

· Experience in Configura CET, Sketch Up, Revit and 2020 CAP Studio + 2020

· Conduct responsible interfaces with project managers, project coordinators and operations/installation groups.

· Can work both independently and, in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

· Strong organizational, planning, and administrative skills.

· Outstanding written and public speaking abilities.

· Works independently and with proficiently with project team to translate needs to support the customers’ business goals.

· Experienced in contract furniture product systems solutions utilizing the design process and business tools/assets to project completion.

· Displays high performance work ethic, and mentors’ others with continued knowledge sharing cross-functionally.

· Ability to identify problems, offer creative solutions and alternatives, work independently/team based to execute on next steps.

· Works through the lens of adaptive mindset to solve challenges that may arise during the life of an order.
