The Edmonton Police Service, Disclosure Section is looking for a Traffic and Digital Media Disclosure Unit (TDDU) Supervisor. This highly skilled person will be involved in the management, operations and coordination of personnel and disclosure processes. They must be an organized, detail oriented and resourceful professional who is able to make decisions to ensure organizational priorities and requirements are supported.
Key responsibilities of this position include:
- Supervise staff members within the Traffic and Digital Disclosure Unit (TDDU).
- Review, prepare and disseminate disclosure packages (including charge reports and supplementary materials) in compliance with legal and procedural standards to the Provincial, Federal and Specialized Crowns.
- Collaborate with EPS personnel, Crown Prosecutors Office, outside agencies and other stakeholders to address disclosure related inquiries and requests.
- Work collaboratively with the Charge Disclosure Unit to ensure efficient and accurate disclosure.
- Liaise with various units/sections to facilitate the provision of missing relevant investigative records.

- Review, prioritize and assign work to employees; analyze work volumes on a consistent basis to ensure resources are properly deployed to meet identified goals and objectives.
- Act as the subject matter expert in the disclosure process.
- Identify issues and trends for assigned tasks within the unit, analyze and bring forward to the Manager *along with suggestions for resolution).
- Log the processing/disclosure output of the TDDU staff and create/present statistic reports to the Manager and Inspector.
- Develop and administer policies and procedures as they relate to the employees of the Edmonton Police Service and disclosure functions.
- Provide orientation and training to new staff, as well as ongoing training for existing staff.
- Conduct regular meetings to receive and distribute information.
- Complete CARM updates for all staff members and maintain staffing levels through vacation/leave approvals and attendance reviews.
- Evaluate performance of TDDU staff including contributing to the development of Annual Performance Plans (APP).
- Work with the Manager in change management initiatives as they relate to disclosure.
- Provide leadership and mentoring.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications- Completion of grade twelve (12) including business subjects related to word and information processing and training in microcomputer applications or completion of an approved certificate program. A minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible supervisory and diversified word and/or information processing experience.
- Any further certificates, diplomas or degrees in an area related to policing, law or computer technology would be considered an asset.
- Proficiency with computer programs including NicheUA, JOIN, Evidence.com, APIS and CPIC.
- Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat X Pro and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, & Outlook).
- Experience within policing, and knowledge of disclosure laws/processes, the Criminal Code, and court procedures.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, time management, and customer service skills.
- Demonstrate a high standard of thoroughness, accuracy, and attention to detail while managing a heavy workload, multi-tasking, and adjusting priorities.
- Proven ability to maintain confidentiality, to exercise initiative, and to show good judgment.
- Demonstrated ability to lead positive change in a challenging environment.
- Ability to solve problems and make decisions while being organizationally sensitive.
Hours of Work:
40 hours per week, Monday to Friday (0600 – 1600). Hours of work may be subject to the terms and conditions of a variable hours of work program.
Salary Range:
21B, Salary Grade: 013, $27.06 - $33.94 (Hourly), $2,165.50 - $2,715.40 (Biweekly), $56,520.07 - $70,872.98 (Annually)
The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton.
