Job description

Dunkley Lumber Ltd. is a respected family-owned company headquartered in Strathnaver, just 75 km south of Prince George, B.C. We operate a modern, cutting-edge and efficient dimension sawmill and planermill producing high-quality lumber products sold across North America and in overseas markets. Additionally, Dunkley operates sawmill facilities in Grand Cache, Alberta, and Carrot River, Saskatchewan.We are currently seeking a dynamic, full-time Woodlands Operations Supervisor to lead and oversee operations in B.C. This position will be based in our Strathnaver, B.C. office, which serves as a central hub for our regional operations. The successful candidate will play a vital role in managing all aspects of project control within the Woodlands department, including timber harvesting, road construction, contract administration, and administrative support. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, the Woodlands Operations Supervisor role involves extensive fieldwork and direct involvement in daily operations. Key responsibilities include:
  • Supervising logging and road-building contractors
  • Development and managing safety plans for contractors and team members
  • Supporting planning processes, including logistics coordination, efficiency analysis, layout quality control, road maintenance, gravelling, and road/bridge inspections
  • Administering and managing contracts
  • Coordination with other teams and internal departments within the Woodlands division
Key success factors for the ideal candidate include the following qualifications, experience, and technical skills:
  • Registration or eligibility for registration as a Registered Forest Technologist (RFT), Forester in Training (FIT), or Registered Professional Forester (RPF) with the Association of BC Forest Professionals (ABCFP)
  • Minimum of 2 years of operational forestry experience, with a focus on harvesting, road construction, or related field supervision preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively drive results and make sound decisions
  • Strong relationship-building skills with First Nations partners, government officials, contractors, and other stakeholders
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills across all levels of staff
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license and a safe driving record
