Job description

Woodlands Operations Manager, Miramichi, New Brunswick

When you join our team as a Woodlands Operations Manager, you will oversee the woodlands operations including wood procurement, planning, harvesting, and silviculture activities for our New Brunswick region.

What You’ll Do

  • Management of woodlands operations activities, including wood procurement, planning, harvesting, and silviculture.
  • Collaborate with sawmill operations management to ensure timely and on-spec wood delivery.
  • Ensure that operations are being carried out in adherence to Interfor and legislative safety standards.
  • Measure and report on the New Brunswick Woodlands Division’s performance targets and communicate Key Performance Indicators.
  • Prepare, submit and manage operating budgets and capital expenditures in order to achieve determined performance indicators.
  • Exercise leadership to promote communication within teams, strengthen commitment, autonomy, and accountability.
  • Ensure the management, supervision and professional development of the New Brunswick Woodlands team.
  • Play a key role in organizational changes, planning, hiring, and integrating new staff.
  • Participate in provincial committees.

What You Offer

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in wood products or forestry field or equivalent.
  • 10+ years of experience in a woodlands or other forestry operation.
  • 5+ years of management experience.
  • Strong safety leadership.
  • Proven ability to lead a team.
  • Strong business focus.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment, negotiate and problem-solve.
  • Detail/results oriented.
  • Strong in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook. Ability to learn new software and computer systems.
  • Professional decorum.
